Dear WGJS Family
Can you believe it? There are just 4 days to go until the big soccer tournament. No, not the FIFA World Cup, but the WYNBERG GIRLS TWO THOUSAND AND TEN GLOBAL CUP OF SOCCER. This event is one of our main FUN - raisers for this year. It is a day for the Wynberg family to spend time together and to enjoy each others company. It promises to be a day filled with fun and excitement for the whole family. Whether you are personally involved in the actual games or not, come along and enjoy the atmosphere and the entertainment.
A lot of planning has been invested in this event and I wish to thank the class reps and the PTA committee in advance for their efforts. This is a family day and we encourage you to attend as a family. Please don't leave your daughters unattended.
The raffle attached to the soccer day is an exciting one, with a large number of prizes. The grand prize is the weekend away, but the most coveted prize has to be the Build A Bear dressed in beautifully made Wynberg Winter Sports Uniform complete with a hockey stick. The complete list of prizes will be displayed on Saturday.

IN CONCLUSION
I publicly wish to thank all the educators at Wynberg Girls' Junior School for all their hard work and the professional attitude with which they approach the education of our girls. I am regularly blown away by the care and emotional energy that the teachers expend on their day to day tasks.
These educators are called to be teachers and learners, nurses, sports coaches, counsellors, parents and friends. Each year we seem to expect more of them and time after time they rise to the occasion. Just this weekend there were four separate events voluntarily attended by various members of staff and I know that 35 of them have volunteered to play soccer on Saturday.
Thank you to the many parents who go out of their way to express gratitude for what these educators do. Your encouragement goes a long way to energise and inspire these people who find themselves on the coalface of education.
What encourages an educator more than anything else is when the girls show a desire to learn and the educator can see them grow, whether it is in sport, academics or emotionally.
As we work together to provide the best education possible for your daughters, please assist us by encouraging your daughters to get involved and to take responsibility for their part in their education.
All the best to the Grade 5 girls and their educators as they venture off on camp tomorrow.
Best wishes
SR PAYNE
