Grade 6

In this, the final year of the Intermediate Phase, emphasis is placed on self-discipline, organisation, and the taking of initiative.  The learners are guided to develop the leadership qualities that are required as they take their place as the school’s seniors next year. 

Academically, the learners take more responsibility for, and ownership of their learning.  They consolidate the skills learned in previous grades, mastering their tables knowledge in Maths and honing their research skills in content subjects.  They are encouraged to become avid readers, to improve their general knowledge and to take an interest in current affairs.

A highlight of the year is the camp which is held at Rocklands Centre, Simonstown.  Here the learners participate in exciting activities that focus on teamwork and leadership skills.

The Grade 6 year is one in which the learners focus on becoming confident and independent.
