Music forms an integral part of life at WGJS. We have various groups where our learners perform together and learn how to interact through music. These groups include 2 choirs, a vocal ensemble, 2 marimba bands, 2 string ensembles, a clarinet choir and an orchestra.
Under the professional leadership of Miss Galliers, we have a large string department and these girls perform together in a junior and a senior string ensemble. We have a school orchestra, consisting of 40 members and they perform at school functions, local eisteddfodau and various conferences and concerts.
The Clarinet Choir is a group of 5 advanced clarinet learners. Our clarinet choir, taught by Miss Stalling, received a diploma at the 2010 Cape Town Eisteddfod and was chosen to be part of Cool Classic Kidz, a program on Fine Music Radio, where they got to record in studio and was broadcasted on FMR.
Two years ago, Ms Lorna Field started a vocal ensemble at Wynberg. This small group travels to various shows and concerts to share their excellent productions with audiences all over the Cape.
Music Tuition:
